If I skip ahead to the evening watching television and movies with Ms. S. the term ‘productive’ does not really apply. We caught an episode of ‘The X-Files’ (“Fresh Bones,” which combines voodoo, Haitian refugees, and abuse by the military in North Carolina … with mountains that remind one of Canada, but I digress). It offers ‘drugs’ and the like as a physical explanation, but in the last minutes indicates that the boy whom Mulder and Scully encountered on numerous occasions was a ghost of some sort. As dinner cooked we watched the first episode of ‘Sweet Genius,’ which is a hot mess of a Food Network cooking competition show … the less said, the better for now. And then as I ate my delicious dinner (oven-roasted cauliflower, sweet potatoes, little purple potatoes, and string beans) I treated Ms. S. to the pilot for ‘Warehouse 13.’

Has it been a ‘productive’ evening? No. A hot mess evening? Most definitely.

But in the afternoon a digression and distraction — the most recent Coding Horror blog post about preferring ‘flat’ vs. threaded/nested comment schemes — led to reflections on hierarchy and inheritance (in programming and cataloguing/classification), and I got a good two thousand words out of it so far … it should be ready to post in a day or two.

The next section (after programming and classification) is a return to phillosophy, and ontology, with an expectation of returing to one of my favorite themes: that those who do not learn from Kant are doomed to reinvent Kant.

With that: time for a movie, a snack, and perhaps a shot of scotch!

Sunday is brunch-promt time, and today as I wrote the cats decided that my lap and forearms were a good place tot settle down and nap … who am I to argue?

[3
181,17,374,344,345
post-719","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-various-and-sundry","tag-food","tag-kant","tag-programming","tag-television","tag-the-x-files
["GET
