1. Today in ‘Millennium’ Frank had to “Beware of the Dog”. Or, rather, dogs.<\/p>\n
2. Today in ‘X-Files’ Scully almost died again, but of course didn’t; Skinner and others were mistrusted; and we ended up more or less where we began.<\/p>\n
3. I made a 2lb. batch of blackeye peas this afternoon; they cooked a bit more quickly than expected, so are quite tender already. I portioned out 12 half-cup servings and put them in the fridge; the rest I put in a single bowl for later portioning … we’ll be eating them into next week!<\/p>\n
4. I discovered that the Beach Cliff (owned by Bumble Bee … as many things are) “Fish Steaks” (herring, ‘in Louisiana Hot Sauce’ … not that hot) are quite tasty in a bowl of salad with a little balsamic vinaigrette.<\/p>\n
5. I also learned that a set of 110 straight squats will cause a good amount of burn … flippy-floppy legs afterward, but they recover.<\/p>\n
6. We have to get out of this state, which is sucking our souls dry, and we’re currently looking at the Northwest. The Pacific is an option, though we’re also considering the Boise area, as I have family there, and it seems the transition might be easier. At the same time, looking for jobs is painful … it’s difficult having advanced degrees but not having available jobs. “Over-educated”, they say.<\/p>\n
7. If I believed in hell, I’m pretty sure there would be a special place in it for Iowa license plate ‘870 CZ*’ (obscured a bit to protect the guilty, a white Chevy truck), hauling several dozen cages of chickens, each cage packed with four or so birds, and leaving them outside in a parking lot overnight … when it’s getting below freezing.<\/p>\n
