I’ll consider this my day of rest. I have little to report, to communicate, or to reflect upon at the moment.
1. Chores were undertaken and doing them felt good. Not because they — changing sheets and hand-towels, doing laundry, drying and putting away dishes — were ‘important’ or in need of being done, though they were, but because although my mind is constantly active and I think of myself as a thinker, in a sense, I am almost always happiest when I’m busy ‘doing’ rather than busy planning or thinking.
2. Sunday brunch prompt writing as usual; I’ve been working on an ongoing project of sorts since the beginning of the year, though I tend to introduce too many extraneous characters/figures and while the ‘story’ moves forward there is no ‘plot’ at the moment. It would benefit from some alone time, some quiet, some planning and thinking-through. Some top-down-ness.
3. I had a head of cabbage in the fridge and was reminded of how delicious and frequently sweet roasted cabbage can be, so I put a quarter of it — chopped, oiled, and seasoned — on a baking sheet in the oven. Add a roasted sweet potato and some more …? A delicious dinner. Sometimes simple is best.
4. It’s not yet 7pm … time for some down-time.
