Movie: 300. Short evaluation – “Gay movie plays it straight.”
Book: The Secret Garden. I’m still reading it … it’s a bus book right now, and I’m not quite half way through. Mary met her uncle for the first time last chapter; this chapter she just met her cousin, Colin.
Wine: Pepperwood Grove old vine zin. When Mike shows up later for a movie I’ll share it with him.
Comics: I’m most of the way through the most recent Captain America series, the one in which just this last week Captain America was killed after 66 years. He’ll be back; what people forget is that this character has “died” before … it’s just a matter of when and how they bring him back. I was never really interested in the Cap, but Ed Brubaker’s run is really well-written, and for the most part it is not a super hero comic … it has more in common with the TV show Alias. It’s a bit of action, a little “history” and espionage, and a little personal drama.
Food: Qdoba burrito, finished the cheesecake, had coffee. I stopped by Woodman’s for wine, but also picked up a crapload of cheese, cream cheese, milk, and butter. I can bake a lot now. I also got some cheap coffee, the $3.99 for a 10-12oz. bag variety, so not cheap-cheap but not expensive, either. A French Roast and a hazelnut. I figure I’ll keep one and take one to the department.
Wisconsin beat Illinois this afternoon to reach the Big 10 finals vs. Ohio State. I can’t say that I care that much, but I must admit, it has been a good year in sports for the Badgers, at least when it comes to the “big” sports. Minor sports, women’s sports? Harder to say … I’m as guilty as the next person in not really giving a damn.
