Links of the Day:
Perhaps I should just write LotD, but that’s a bit like LotR, it is not? Speaking of which, I haven’t watched Gandalf, my favorite hobbits, and a those magnificent CGI characters in far too long. But first: the links.
7th Heaven finally bites the dust … for the 2nd time, but this time it should stick. You know you’re old when you remember that the father in 7th Heaven is the proto-Riker from Star Trek: The Motion Picture … and you didn’t even need the IMDB or Wikipedia to remind you of this.
LonelyGirl15 and Dr Tiki on Tom Green Live: I’m not a Tom Green fan, per se, but this is Dr Tiki we’re talking about, and there has been a dearth of Tiki Bar TV episodes of late. This also features “LonelyGirl15,” the fake video blog from last year (for a while everyone thought the posts were ‘authentic’ and she was a 15 year old girl blogging about her life … just the type of hoax we saw so much of in the 90s, now with video).
Zwischenzeit, the blog of/by Alex, who visited a week or two back chose Cornell over us. His loss (but ours? Who knows). He insists on writing it in German — at times painfully incorrect German at that, but I digress — but in any case, just another blogger out there.
SNL – TV Funhouse: Maraka … good if you like cats, hot air balloons and the like. Penguins? See for yourself. (“Help Maraka find the baby penguin.”) Probably good if you hate Dora … though I don’t really know who Dora is. Inform / Educate me …
Other Things:
I could write OT but that’s also Off Topic and, I think, something to do with Scientology.
I digress.
I talked to Mike on the phone this afternoon before I headed out to Fair Trade for a fritter and coffee, and although he didn’t make it over for movies the other night or lunch today we had a good time chatting. He and Sherie drove to Chicago this evening so they can catch a 6a.m. flight to Jamaica tomorrow. That boy gets to travel far too much.
Last night Jack, Claire, and Lynn made it over (before the rain started coming down) for movies and booze (white russians and some Giant 47 Pound Rooster … hey, cheap wine, damn it!), and before starting The Big Lebowski we watched R. Kelly’s “hip hop opera” (or hip hopera, as I like to say) entitled Trapped in the Closet. Two syllables: absurd.
Four words: Bridget and a midget.
It’s that bad/good, depending on your take and your state of sobriety.
Thereafter came The Dude, followed by Mulholland Drive, which I hadn’t seen for years, since watching it with Christoph. It was still good the 2nd time through. I need to go watch Inland Empire.
Today Phoebe (“Hi Phoebe!” [okay, not reading this]) got added to the list of ‘friends,’ and I got through a few more Pearl Jam songs … it’s all about “P” today.
Unless it’s not. I also read some Gottfried Benn (his essay on “Genius” for example) and watched an episode of Bleach. I’m tempted to watch Ghost in the Shell this evening, though. I’m done with my “regular” TV shows, though there is the new season of Doctor Who … I just haven’t acquired the episode yet.
