Monday Music, Musings, a Meal and little More

A day in review, mainly things not done.

It’s nearly 11pm my time and there is — was? — supposed to be scheduled maintenance already underway. It rained all morning.

I.

Likewise there was supposed to be maintenance here this morning. There was and there wasn’t. I awoke before 8 — around 5 because of the cats and at 7:30 because of a scheduled alarm –, got up, showered, and began breakfast. As I sat down to work on the sofa there was a knock on the door.

It was Kenny to look at and fix the water heater. To make a long story short: this time the conclusion was it had to do with a pressure relief valve or similar, and so he departed to get the right parts, returned, and completed his work.

He also looked at the bathroom ceiling, went to visit the upstairs neighbors, and returned to announce that it probably wasn’t a leaking pipe or similar, but that the neighbors had simply flooded the bathroom and been too embarrassed to admit to it. He’d be in on the repairs to that bathroom a few weeks back and knew why/how it originally leaked.

I’ll take his word for it — for now –, though we’ll keep an eye on the bathroom. So: no Larry and no construction today.

II.

I figured this would have annoyed Ms. S., woudl have upset her.

But once I explained the situation over breakfast/lunch (her/me), she admitted that, actually, the thought of the construction worried her more.

III.

While Ms. S. was at rehearsal — the first dress for the production, with another tomorrow and a final on Wednesday, handled by the ‘AD’ of sorts, as she needs to work — I worked with WordPress. That is to say, I made no dissertation progress today. I do, however, now better understand how WordPress themes ‘work’ … for some definition of that word, as I hesitate using it to describe anything to do with PHP.

Also: one of the last delicious bottles of Belgian tripel, some really good baked and breaded tofu, and more. It was a pleasant and uneventful evening. Electric Six (from ‘Heartbreaks and Brainwaves’) plays now. We, alas, could not see them in Atlanta this year.

To conclude: I gave the cats a few treats and then sprinkled catnip on the floor … they’re stoned now.
