I usually wait to write until the evening, but I told myself, “Self, get it over with early today, so that you can enjoy the rest of this, er, beautiful, er, chilly, er, gray, er messy day inside, curled up with a good book.” My self is wise.
Jen called last night and we chatted for 99 minutes. The main reason for the call was that Russian acquaintance Sergei realized he hadn’t seen Jen & Christoph for ages and wanted to do a movie night, Thursday was best, and so they invited me.
This gives me a good opportunity to return Christoph’s movies (The Tin Drum, Don’t Look Now), though I’m not done with this German graphic novels; I’ve been meaning to scan those for archival reasons. The paper is not that great. They’re German translations of French (or Belgian) and American comics from the 70s or early 80s.
I have more movies than J&C, and so I’ll take the laptop and video adapter along. Movie choices?
- Quills
- The Woodsman
- The Dreamlife of Angels (French with subtitles)
- Swimming Pool (French & English with subtitles)
Jen said “no animation,” but I might take Ghost in the Shell 2 along to show Christoph.
That is the extent of my “Great Thursday Evening Plan” (GTEP); the GFEP (see: Friday) might include a run to Woodman’s with Jen, so I’ll hold off on going today. After the pie yesterday Tyler said, “If you’re taking requests …” and suggested strawberry-rhubarb. Alas those are hard to find fresh this time of year (read: nearly impossible, except imported), and I’m not sure I can find them frozen. We’ll see. I still have the Battenberg to make (will get the ingredients) and I want to make a cheesecake.
For all the baking I’ve done, I’ve *never* made a cheesecake.
Funny, that.
